How to prepare for Microsoft Business Exams

These are the easier exams Microsoft offers. They are not technical, don’t require any previous knowledge or experience. All information you need to know is generally in the Microsoft Learn course or it is just common sense.

Plan for 1 to 3 weeks of focused prep, depending on your familiarity with the product and business scenarios.

The Study Guide is the only document that actually outlines what is on the exam. It is the source of truth for what is on the exam and it should be a core part of your preparation journey. Always reference it so you stay focused on relevant exam topics and avoid getting sidetracked.

These are non-technical exams aimed at business users:

  • Only AB-730 is a business exam that requires some sort of hands-on experience, in this case with Microsoft 365 Copilot. See How to lab for Microsoft Exams if you need help finding a practice environment.

  • AB-731 is an exam that can be basically passed just by using your common sense. It is not hard. In case you are not familiar with the core concepts these 2 exams cover, feel free to go through the Microsoft Learn course.
